New Deadlines for 2017
With a new President and a new Congress, we don’t know yet how much will actually change in 2017 related to taxes and accounting. Here’s what we do know so far…
1099’s and W2’s
1099’s and W2’s are still due to employees and contractors by January 31, 2017. However, in the past, you had until the end of February to mail in the 1096’s and W3’s (the summaries of the 1099’s and W2’s that get sent to Uncle Sam). These are now also due on January 31st.
There are no extensions granted for these informational returns.
Partnership Tax Returns
If you have a partnership, these returns used to be due on April 15th. These are now due at the same time as Corporation Tax Returns which is March 15th.
If you do require additional time, you can request a six-month extension to file. Please note that this is an extension to file, not an extension to pay your taxes.
We’ll keep you posted as we learn new information.
